Controlled characters collect items and use them in puzzles in order to push the story further. Adventure games usually offer only single player mode and the point-and-click interface. In Contradiction: Spot the Liar! developed by Baggy Cat, the player gets to follow the adventures of detective Jenks, who is tasked with investigating the Atlas training center, where a number of mysterious events have occurred recently. In terms of gameplay mechanics, the game is a combination of adventure games similar to Myst and classic FMV productions.

Our task is to “take care” of them properly — kill them, that is. We have to tend separately to each of the five unfortunate guests, shortening their life by various means, for example poisoning.

The main hero is a Soviet scientist with a mysterious past, who struggles with mental issues due to his medicine addiction. After he wakes up in the middle of the night, he finds the hotel has been completely abandoned, and various obstacles are trying to take his life and prevent him from leaving the building.
