After a few years of silence, here comes yet another installment in the popular fighting series Guilty Gear developed by Arc System Works. The game’s biggest feature is the use of Unreal Engine which supports 1080p, along with 3D backgrounds and 3D character models. The latter, implemented as a modified cel-shading style, strongly resembles original, two-dimensional sprites. Mechanically, not much has changed; it is still a classic fighting title with a dynamic and difficult-to-master combat system based on combos and special attacks (which drain a special bar). Each of the 17 warriors has a different style concerning both looks and moves. The campaign tells the stories of the heroes, but nothing stops you from enjoying only e.g. arcade or multiplayer battles.

The action takes place in an unusual depiction of the 19th century, and the players assume the role of proud citizens of British Empire, their task being to colonize new lands. Generally, the gameplay mechanics are based on typical economy simulation games and involve primarily expansion of towns and managing their resources. At the same time, the title gives us a lot more freedom, offering a dynamically changing sandbox world that has its inhabitants who live their own lives. The original feature of the production is that it abandoned pre-made buildings in favor of structures that we create from the bottom up. Apart from purely economic aspects, we also have to face various random events as well as monsters, cultists, or pirates who try to thwart our plans.

The fourth and final DLC for Borderlands 2, a post-apocalyptic action game developed by Gearbox Software that combines elements of FPS and RPG genre. The key character in the Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep expansion is a crazy thirteen-year old girl who loves explosives. The fans of the series should know her from the basic version of Borderlands 2 as well as from the Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage expansion. The main theme of this expansion pack is a meta-session of table-top RPG game, Bunkers & Badasses – the local variation of Dungeons & Dragons. Tiny Tina plays the role of the dungeon master and the characters known from the first installment of Borderlands – Brick, Mordecai and Lilith – join the session. During the session Tina spontaneously changes the rules of the game, including character names, boss attributes or location layouts. Thanks to that the adventures in Borderlands 2 became unpredictable. The battles are of course played in a form typical for the series, from a first-person perspective.
