Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Chronicles: Battle for Greece is the seventh expansion for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, a remaster of the cult strategy game, released in 2019 for personal computers (and in 2023 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S). This DLC is the result of collaboration between five development teams: Forgotten Empires, Tantalus Media, Wicked Witch, World’s Edge, and CaptureAge. At the same time, the expansion is the first part of a larger saga set in ancient times.

Plot

Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Chronicles: Battle for Greece takes us to ancient times, or more precisely – to ancient Greece and Persia. Following a story spanning over a hundred years, we can see the Ionian revolt in Persia and the Greco-Persian wars, as well as oversee Athenian democracy or take part in the Peloponnesian war. We do all this in the company of a number of famous figures such as the strategist Themistocles, the politician Pericles, or Queen Artemisia.
