After the release of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, the developer studios behind the game did not rest on their laurels, but proceeded to develop it extensively. Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - The Last Chieftains is the tenth expansion for this production, prepared by the Forgotten Empires, Tantalus Media, Wicked Witch and World's Edge teams.

Civilizations

The action of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - The Last Chieftains is set in medieval South America. The list of novelties introduced in the add-on opens with three civilizations. Each faction has unique units, technologies and architecture, and brings original strategies and ways to win.

  1. The strengths of the Mapu?w are the cavalrymen, namely the Kona (who fight melee and deal extra damage to wounded enemies) and the bolas horsemen (who fight at a distance and can slow down adversaries).
  2. Muisca's unique units from Colombian And?w are the temple guard (heavy infantrymen whose attack speed increases in direct proportion to the length of the clash) and the Guecha (javelinists whose death heals allies nearby).
  3. Hailing from the Brazilian jungle, the Tupi field pair-trained Blackwood archers and heavy infantry known as Ibirapema warriors, capable of dealing massive area damage.
