Release Date: February 17, 2023
The eighth entry in the series of economic strategy games, in which the players assume control of the titular settlers. The Settlers combines solutions from previous entries in the series with completely new gameplay mechanics.
The Settlers is the eighth entry in the cult series of strategy games that started in 1993. The title is also a reboot of the series. The game was developed by the German Blue Byte studio, which takes care of the series' development. The same team has been working on Anno since 2006.
The Settlers is the return to the well-known solutions from the third and fourth part of the series. We play the role of a leader of one of three factions (Elari, Maru and Jorn) and our main goal is to develop our settlement and fight with neighboring tribes. We achieve success by taking care of the military base and, above all, economic base. Landmarks, which are special places on the map, help us - occupying them gives us various useful bonuses (e.g. after sacrificing tools we'll receive a few weapons needed to recruit soldiers).
The key factor that determines victory or defeat is economy. We must ensure that we do not run out of key resources (such as stone, wood or iron ore). We can speed up their production with food - delivering it to the right facility will please our settlers and make them work more efficiently.
An important role in the game will be played by engineer units, which we can manually control, just like our soldiers. They discover ore deposits, expand our territory or bring to the warehouse the resources discovered on the map and coming from the landmarks.
The main game mode of The Settlers game is the story campaign. Multiplayer PvP skirmishes and battles with the artificial intelligence complement it.
The Settlers features three-dimensional graphics that use warm, colorful style. During the game, the players can observe the daily life of the citizens, the steps of production of equipment, and the process of constructing buildings. The game is powered by Snowdrop Engine – the same technology was used, among other games, in Tom Clancy’s The Division.

The Settlers: New Allies recorded a poor debut. Players complain about the heavily simplified gameplay and the game's poor technical condition. Moreover, it seems that not many people play the title at all.

Game Ratings for The Settlers: New Allies Video Game.
GamesHub: 3 / 5 by Leah Williams
The Settlers: New Allies feels confused by its own identity. Is it a live service game? Is it a homage to the great RTS games of the past? Is it The Settlers, or a lesser Age of Empires? The answers seem to dance away the longer you play, and the further your settlements grow. While it houses a gorgeous world that actively encourages you to keep exploring, placing roads, and looking after your flock, a lack of depth and identity makes New Allies feel like a muddled experiment.
WayTooManyGames: 7 / 10 by Leonardo Faria
The classic case of a jack of all trades, master of none. I also have to commend the developers for a truly gorgeous presentation, decent tutorial and a user interface that isn’t half-bad, despite being made with a largely forgettable gameplay loop in mind. We have enough city builders and strategy games out there right now. Just get one of each and enjoy their vastly different purposes. You don’t need a game trying to be both at the same time.
GamingTrend: 40 / 100 by Jackson Lustberg
The Settlers: New Allies is a game with great presentation and poor execution, It's $60, but I would struggle to recommend it at even half that price given how lacking in content it is. The gameplay is lagging heavily. Although tightly woven together, it doesn't really matter when there's so little to play with. It's like being in a sandbox with no toys or tools.
