Arcade 11 February 2015
Very unique two-dimensional platformer from the independent developer PlayDead. We play as a small boy who sets on dangerous journey to save his sister. He traverses surrealistic landscapes, coming across many deadly traps and running away from monstrous spider, which follow him tirelessly. In terms of gameplay, Limbo borrows from classic platform titles, though not without adding a few original features. The games revolves around advanced physics, which plays crucial role in most puzzles and arcade sequences, during which the players must display quick reflexes. What stands out the most, however, is Limbo’s unique, mysterious and grim atmosphere, mainly coming from its audiovisuals. Sparse use of sound and graphics, consisting only of shades of black and white, makes it look like a work of a movie expressionist from the beginning of 20th century.

Instead of the snow-capped mountains known from the first installment, the player gets to travel to a desert location filled with dunes, ruins of ancient cities, and a ton of new threats. Similarly to other endless runner games, the track is generated procedurally and has no end. The player has to avoid making any mistakes, cover gradually increasing distances, and get as many points as possible. Like its predecessor, the game features minimalist visuals; however, they are bound to appeal to many players with their pastel color palette.

Arcade 26 May 2015
A mobile arcade game from the endless runner subgenre, created by studio Simutronis. It allows you to become Lara Croft – the protagonist of the cult Tomb Raider series. Apart from that, there are many combat sequences, both with common enemies and mighty bosses (like a Tyrannosaurus). Sometimes you can also show your acrobatic talent by running on the wall or doing some other evolutions in order to avoid various threats. The gameplay is also more attractive thanks to a simple character progression system, online leaderboards and well recreated atmosphere of the Tomb Raider series.

The game recreates such situations, for each of many kind of mushrooms available gives access to a set of useful abilities. The game offers colorful visuals, resembling the Rayman series in this aspect. What deserves special attention is the fact that both the plot and certain gameplay mechanics are rooted deeply in the tradition of Vikings and supported by research conducted on their culture.

Throwing bright spears at enemies approaching from the right side of the screen is the core element of the game. The player's objective here is to hit the target before it manages to reach the protagonist. The gameplay is diversified with special powers, such as the rainfall of luminous spears that encompasses the entire map. Powers such as this one can be upgraded alongside progression. Another installment in the popular logic puzzle/arcade game by Finnish studio Rovio. Angry Birds Evolution doesn't feature a complex story campaign: the game is set on a bird island, where the pigs arrive, and your task is to drive them off. The gameplay consists of battles between the two hostile teams. After launching your characters in a way that is distinct for the series, they roll on the floor, eliminating enemies and bouncing off everything in their way. While the basics of the gameplay seem easy, matters are complicated by the design of the levels, which are small and full of obstacles and various interactive elements, e.g. exploding crates. The gameplay is varied thanks to special abilities, which give every bird three unique attacks each. It provides a motivation for unlocking more characters — the game features over 300 of them, and each of them can be upgraded and developed further.
