Battlefield REDSEC is a free-to-play, first-person online shooter that serves as a standalone project complementing Battlefield 6. Its biggest feature is a massive Battle Royale mode, where battles take place on the enormous Fort Lyndon map set in California. The game also includes a competitive Gauntlet mode where players divide into teams.
After the long-awaited release of Battlefield 6, which took place on October 10, 2025 (almost four years after the release of its worse received predecessor, titled Battlefield 2042), it was hard to expect that another side game belonging to this series of shooters from EA would be released in the same month. It is worth noting that rumors about a battle royale mode related to BF6 had been circulating for some time. Meanwhile, eighteen days later, the project Battlefield REDSEC was released in free digital distribution.
The core of Battlefield REDSEC is a mode based on battle royale rules, designed for online multiplayer gameplay for up to 100 players divided into teams. During the game, we traverse the map, collect valuable loot (including a wide range of firearms), and most importantly, eliminate other players. We defeat enemies by engaging in firefights or using the destructible environment to our advantage, for example, by burying them under rubble. Naturally, the combat area continuously shrinks, leading to intensified clashes as time progresses.
For the purpose of Battlefield REDSEC a map called Fort Lyndon was created, which is a "hidden in plain sight" military facility located between a residential area and the picturesque beaches of California. It is the largest location in the Battlefield series, which can be traversed on foot or using various vehicles and machines. The buildings on this map are susceptible to destruction.
Complementing the Battle Royale mode is the Gauntlet mode (Challenge). In this mode, players are divided into eight teams of four and alternately (in five-minute "rounds") complete tasks set before them, striving to achieve victory over their opponents.
Battlefield REDSEC also includes support for Battlefield Portal - a set of tools that allow players to create their own content and scripts and integrate them into the game.
