Battlefield Video Game Series
A highly popular series of first-person shooters (FPS) in wartime realities. The series is developed by the Swedish studio Digital Illusions CE (owned by Electronic Arts since 2004).
The brand debuted in 2002 with the game Battlefield 1942 released for PC and immediately gained a large number of enthusiasts. Over the course of nearly 17 years (2002-2018) , the series lived to see 17 installments (not counting expansions) addressed to most popular hardware platforms, including sixth-, seventh- and eighth-generation consoles.
Signature productions Battlefield are characterized by a wide variety of conventions and themes. Starting with mainstream games - Battlefield 1942 (2002), Battlefield 2 (2005), Battlefield 3 (2011), aspiring battlefield simulations, through the spectacular action-focused side series Battlefield: Bad Company (2008 and 2010), all the way up to the purely online gameplay-focused Battlefield Heroes (2009), Battlefield Online (2010) i Battlefield Play4Free (2011).
Initially, all parts centered around military action, set in various historical and futuristic realities. The exception to this rule is the game released in 2015 Battlefield Hardline which depicts clashes between police forces and organized crime. The title was developed by Visceral Games studio, which has never participated in the development of the series before. Despite this, the production retained the most important elements of the series - including the presence of various types of vehicles, a wide arsenal of weapons or an expanded multiplayer mode, which offered several new forms of gameplay that better fit the scheme of clashes between police and criminals.
In 2016, a game prepared by the DICE studio was released Battlefield 1. In contrast to the then prevailing trend to set first-person shooters in the SF convention (which some of the gaming community was very tired of), the developers decided to present the events of the First World War. Due to the change in realities, more emphasis was placed on short-range clashes, including with white weapons. At the same time, the title retained its spectacular character, and on the battlefields we could see, in addition to aircraft, tanks or warships, also majestic airships. The production also took into account the role of animals during battles - in particular, horses, which accounted for a large role of cavalry. In 2017, a complete version of the game appeared on PC, PS4 and XONE, titled Battlefield 1: Revolution. In addition to the base, it includes four add-ons -. They Will Not Pass, In the Name of the Tsar, Restless Waters i Apocalypse.
In turn, 2018 saw the release of the fifth installment of the main series, for PC, PS4 and XONE. The developers decided to return to the realities of World War II, portraying it through much less familiar locations and events. In Battlefield V, paid add-ons were abandoned in favor of micropayments and expansions made available for free.
In all entries in the series, the player has the opportunity to take on the role of a soldier and use a sizable arsenal of available weaponry. Most games also feature vehicles (cars, tanks, aircraft), which can be driven to a limited extent.
One of the hallmarks of the series Battlefield is the extensive multiplayer mode. Most games offer a single-player campaign, but it is generally not particularly absorbing. The full potential of the production is revealed only in clashes involving live opponents on maps that vary in size and character, and with different variants of play. An example of such gameplay is the four-player cooperative mode introduced in the latest installment of the series, called Combined Arms. Players take on the role of paratroopers sent to the rear of the enemy army. Also announced was the popular battle royale mode, which in Battlefield V will be called Firestorm and will be added in one of the free expansions.
From the very beginning, the series' trump card has been its excellent audiovisual design. Its latest installments use the capabilities of EA DICE studio's proprietary technology - the Frostbite engine, which is a much improved version of the technology used in earlier installments. It allows to generate a high-quality three-dimensional environment while using an advanced system of physics and destruction.
Currently, the series Battlefield is considered the main rival of the bestselling series Call of Duty and, according to many experts, belongs to the top of the FPS genre.
It is estimated that by 2016 the games of the series Battlefield had sold around 60 million copies.

Battlefield 1
October 21, 2016
Action, EA Play, FPP, FPS, World War I, Internet, Co-op, Multiplayer, PC Game Pass, Early 20th Century, Singleplayer, Shooters, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Another full-fledged installment in one of the most popular series of war shooters played from the first-person view and developed since 2002, as the effect of cooperation between Electronic Arts and DICE. With its flamboyant title, Battlefield 1 introduces the series to the realities of the First World War. The story campaign depicts this global conflict through the eyes of several independent characters, who participate in twentieth-century's first modern military conflict. When it comes to the gameplay itself, the game reaches back to the roots of the franchise, offering larger, open maps and giving a great deal of freedom when it comes to approaching different objectives. Simultaneously, the single-player mechanics were significantly modified, in order for these to resemble the specifics of the multiplayer mode, which allows even up to 64 players to meet in one session. The new time period does not bring only the adequate weaponry and vehicles (planes, tanks, warships), but also makes it necessary to apply a different approach to combat - for instance, battles have become more brutal and a greater emphasis was placed on melee combat.

Action, EA Play, FPP, FPS, Gangster, Internet, Co-op, Multiplayer, Police, Singleplayer, Shooters, Modern Conflicts, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass.
Another installment in the popular FPS franchise. Visceral Games, the studio known mainly for the excellent Dead Space sci-fi series, developed their first major installment in the long-standing Battlefield franchise. It's a result of the transition of the franchise to a two-year production cycle, similar to the one made by its competitor, Call of Duty. Unlike the previous parts, this one is focused on the efforts of police forces against organized crime. The player assumes the role of a young detective Nick Mendoza and has to face his former partners whose desire to get rich quickly pushed them to choose the life of crime. The production features an original method of storytelling reminiscent of popular police TV shows. Despite the introduction of a new theme, the characteristic features of the franchise remained unchanged: impressive arsenal of weapons, fully destructible environment – thanks to the Frostbite engine – and a well-developed multiplayer, in which you will find completely new game modes, such as Blood Money and Heist.

The matches take place in spacious locations, while the gameplay encourages a tactical approach to the game and—as usual in the series— allows you to use various vehicles. A single match can involve up to 32 players, and, just like in most of the games in the franchise, teamwork is crucial in order to succeed.
