Release Date: November 14, 2025
The 22nd mainline installment of the popular FPS series from Activision and also the 7th part of the Black Ops sub-series, made by Trearch studio. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is a direct sequel of CoD: Black Ops II, with the action set in the year 2035.
Released in 2010, Call of Duty: Black Ops started a sub-series that over the years was to become the apple of the eye of Treyarch studio, one of the main teams responsible for the development of the series. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is its seventh installment, and at the same time the 22nd main production under the Call of Duty banner. This FPS is the result of a collaboration between the Treyarch and Raven Software teams.
The open beta tests for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 are scheduled between October 5th and October 8th, 2025. Early access to them will be available for players who pre-ordered the game – the servers will open for them on October 2nd. The same applies to PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is the second game from the Call of Duty series (after Call of Duty: Black Ops 6) which was made available to subscribers of Xbox and PC Game Pass services on premiere day.
The pillar of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is the story campaign, which is set in 2035, after the events of Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The main character of the game is David Mason, who was tasked with leading a secret mission of the elite JSOC unit in the Mediterranean city of Avalon. His task is to confront Raul Menendez and thwart his plans related to the use of a secret psychological weapon.
Avalon serves as the team's command center and base of operations, from where they embark on missions scattered all over the world - including to North and South America or Japan. Over time, the city undergoes transformations reflecting our progress in the campaign.
The developers allow us to complete the campaign both individually and in coop mode for up to 4 people.
Completing the campaign does not end our adventure in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, but activates the so-called endgame. For its needs, a repeatable gameplay was prepared, within which we gain access to the whole of Avalon and face specially developed challenges.
Here we embody operators, who are differentiated in terms of combat style and fighting skills. As we progress, we develop characters, unlocking power upgrades and abilities, increasing their statistics, and collecting better equipment.
In Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 there is also a classic multiplayer mode based on competition. In addition to the omnimovement system introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which significantly increases the mobility of our character, we will find here the possibility of "overclocking" equipment.
The launch version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 features a wide range of maps set across the globe, from Tokyo to Alaska. Most of the maps are for classic 6v6 modes, including new locations (like Blackheart, The Forge, Flagship, Paranoia) and arenas returning from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (Express, Hijacked, Raid).
Among the game modes, Skirmish is the leading mode, pitting two 20-player teams against each other and completing assigned tasks using a handy arsenal, vehicles, grappling hooks, and wingsuits. Another new mode is Overload, where teams attempt to bring a device generating the titular overload into enemy territory to score points.
In addition, classic game modes such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search and Destroy, Kill Confirmed, Free-For-All, Hardpoint, Gunfight, Kill Order, and Control are available. These are complemented by various Face Off modes and a Training Course where players can hone their skills.
In Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 there is also a place for the coop Zombies mode. As Weaver, Maya, Carver, and Grey, we find ourselves in the heart of the Dark Ether. We're talking about a hellish land overrun by living corpses, where we meet alternative incarnations of the original Zombies team - Edward Richtofen, Takeo Masaki, Nikolai Belinski and Tank Dempsey. In order to survive and accomplish all the missions entrusted to us, we must closely cooperate with each other.
The Zombies mode is complemented by Dead Ops Arcade 4, a mini-game implemented in the form of a twin-stick shooter, in which we engage in dynamic battles with the living dead, collecting power-ups along the way and gradually developing our characters.

As a fan of the series, I feel very strange because the latest Call of Duty is not at all like what I liked the brand for. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta shows that a solid foundation is not enough for a good game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 should run without problems on any modern PC. At least that's what the beta's official system requirements point to.

Twisted Voxel: 8 / 10 by Muhammad Ali Bari
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is an entertaining and feature-packed entry that suffers from the cost of trying to be everything at once, resulting in a robust but uneven package.
VGC: 3 / 5 by Jordan Middler
Call of Duty Black Ops 7's multiplayer is some of the finest the series has had to offer in years. It's just a shame it's tied to a baffling, turgid, ridiculous campaign that makes a great argument for stopping Call of Duty campaigns all together. 7 games is plenty. The Black Ops series has run its course.
Gamer Social Club: 7.5 / 10 by Fraser Billington
It’s clear Treyarch took risks trying to blur the line between campaign and a PVE experience, which could pay off if continued support and updates keep flowing. I’m really enjoying my time with the campaign of Black Ops 7. I wish they had kept all the open world stuff to the Endgame, and we just had a balls-to-the-wall acid trip down Black Ops memory lane for the story. Endgame is Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s saving grace. I absolutely love jumping in and causing hell for the Guild.
