Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate is an expansion for the popular looter shooter from 2017. It was developed by Bungie studio, previously responsible for the development of the Halo series. This expansion marks the beginning of a completely new saga, developed over the course of subsequent DLCs.

New features in the expansion

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate primarily brings a story campaign that allows us to face a new threat. During the game, we land on the Kepler asteroid, where a forgotten human colony is located. Our paths once again cross with the Nine (mysterious and powerful beings, who existed long before the Wanderer).

New characters, missions and raid

There are two main story characters in the DLC, namely Lod (a new ally arriving from afar), and Ikora (Warlock Vanguard). We get to know them over the course of successive missions that are the pillar of the campaign. In addition to the extra story missions, the creators have also prepared a previously unavailable raid.

World tiers

Thanks to the so-called world tiers, we can decide on the level of difficulty of the gameplay. The higher the levels, the greater the challenges we have to face, but also the more valuable the rewards that await us. Besides, higher levels provide access to a larger number of plot threads.

New skills, arsenal and enemies

Kepler is a place where abundant amounts of dark matter accumulate. It is a source of power that fuels the new abilities of the Guardians, such as Matterspark. It allows us to change forms, which in turn enables things like squeezing through narrow passages or developing enormous speeds and ramming everything that comes our way.

Destiny Game Series

Destiny is a series of first-person shooters with a touch of MMO and RPG elements. The series combines a science fiction climate with fantasy elements: players take on the role of futuristic warriors using both firearms and supernatural powers. The main job here is to eliminate soldiers of alien races that serve the ancient cosmic Darkness. During the execution of missions, even the story missions, we can encounter other players and cooperate with them. The fun is accompanied by acquiring better and better weapons and armor, known from erpegs, as well as climbing to new experience levels and unlocking new skills.

Thumb Culture: 4 / 5

Playing Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate was enjoyable since I watched the trailer for this expansion. I literally let out a death scream and said, “I can’t believe Bungie pulled me back in!” I’m excited to see what the Renegade part of the expansion is going to be like. Yet, I don’t know if the story is going to be canon in the Star Wars universe or not. Wait … is the Force going to be considered a subclass at this point? Only time will tell. The the only question I have to ask is, will this new overhaul on the original system make or break this franchise. I give Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate the Thumb Culture Gold Award

NoobFeed: 65 / 100 by Mahi Araf

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate feels like a test of patience rather than skill. While the narrative and world-building are receiving their plaudits, the gameplay mechanics, bugs, and design missteps, on the other hand, are hindering what could have been one of Destiny 2's most ambitious expansions to date.

GamingBolt: 6 / 10 by Ravi Sinha

It's a new era for Destiny 2 and Bungie as a whole, and it shows with The Edge of Fate's scale. However, the execution, especially in new systems like Matterspark, leaves much to be desired.
