The first team to complete Destiny 2's newest raid, The Desert Perpetual, had a team name Bungie didn't want to share, and fans were quick to notice.

Yesterday, Bungie shared the names of the first group to complete the newest raid in Destiny 2, but fans were quick to notice that the team’s name was left out. Bungie listed each player individually rather than call out the team itself. Initially spotted by GameStar, the post has blown up on social media, mostly with users responding with jokes and sarcastically wondering why the team name wasn’t mentioned.

Bungie, perhaps smartly, decides not to share a Destiny 2 group’s team name on social media

It is tradition among the Destiny 2 community to recognize who completes a new raid first. The most recent raid, the Desert Perpetual Raid, began just a few days ago. The first team to complete it reportedly took 15 hours and 35 minutes. The team of six was celebrated on social media by the official Destiny 2 account, with each player’s name listed alongside a trophy. Inconspicuously left out of the social media post was the team’s name: Team Nuts.

In their responses, fans have expressed themselves in numerous ways. Some users congratulated the team, while others commented on the quality of the raid content. Others shared images of squirrels, and one user cleverly used an image from the show Breaking Bad, where the protagonist Walter White says a famous line: “Say my name.” Another user summed up the entire situation: “That’s nuts.”

At the time of writing, Bungie and the Destiny 2 account haven’t responded, and they likely never will. However, not only did they avoid having to post that team name, but the lack of it probably drove up engagement on this post way further than it might have otherwise. Ultimately, this is a win-win for Bungie.

Aside from cracking jokes, players have also had some criticism of Destiny 2’s newest raid. This raid marks the beginning of the Edge of Fate arc for the live service shooter, part of a recently revealed two-year roadmap and a shift in update schedules. Rather than one major annual update, Destiny 2 will receive two smaller yearly updates in the future. GameStar reported that regarding this latest raid, players thought it placed a stronger focus on damage rather than an understanding of raid mechanics. Bosses, apparently, have too much health. “Bullet sponges” are an all-too-common problem in games like Destiny 2.
