Today, The Edge of Fate, a new expansion for Destiny 2, launched. As with any major update, there are going to be small issues that need to be sorted out. But on the bright side, Destiny 2 has shot up the Steam charts, reaching the eleventh most played spot according to SteamDB. One unexpected issue players seem to be encountering is an issue where their cursor is restricted in its movements. This appears to be a problem restricted to PC, and thankfully the community seems to have found a fix.

Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate is causing an unusual problem for some players: restricting their cursor

Restricting your cursor might seem like an odd and silly problem to have, but it makes the game unplayable with a mouse and keyboard. One user shared the problem on the Destiny 2 subreddit, describing it as “an invisible barrier” and explaining they “can not move [their cursor] to right or down… I can not pick quests or change items in my inventory…” Another user on Steam posted to the community discussions page, with a handful of other users commenting that they are having similar issues. Thankfully, a few users have pointed out a possible solution.

The issue appears to be with the resolution. One user wrote, “Reverted my resolution back to 1920 x 1080 with a controller now mouse is normal. 3840 x 2160 is bugged for me with mouse.” If you have a controller, or can otherwise access the in-game settings, this might be a solution. But on Reddit, another comment pointed out a possible fix. They claim it was something to do with the Nvidia app changing the in-game resolution settings. So, if you are using the Nvidia app, that could be what’s causing the issue with the mouse. Changing the in-game resolution settings fixed the issue at least for this user.

Today’s update is the first in a new era of expansions called Frontiers. Bungie, the development team behind Destiny 2, released a two-year roadmap for expansions a few months ago. In previous years, the team would plan for one major expansion per year, but now they are shifting that schedule to two smaller ones per year. The next part of the Frontiers era will launch in September and will be titled Ash & Iron.
