Felvidek is an RPG set in an alternative version of the 15th century. The game offers a low fantasy style, so although it has some fantasy elements, it is mostly based on realism and history of the real world. The author of the game is Jozef Pavelka.

Plot

The story takes us to a fictional region, where distant echoes of the Ottoman Empire's actions resonate. We play as knight named Paul - a decent man, though with a weakness for alcohol. Paul is responsible for assembling a team capable of stopping a conspiracy against the king.

Mechanics

In Felvidek we observe the action in an isometric view. Together with the main character and his companions, we visit castles, ruins, and mysterious places full of dangers. The heroes meet numerous NPC's, trying to distinguish people loyal to the king from heretics wishing for his downfall.

During the fights, the perspective changes to first-person perspective, and we perform all actions turn by turn. Members of our team can perform standard attacks such as sword strikes or pistol shots, as well as use healing or offensive magic, like summoning tentacles to hurt enemies. In Felvidek, we encounter over twenty types of enemies, including infantrymen, cultists, and terrifying monsters like huge eyeballs.

Technical aspects

Felvidek draws attention with its two-dimensional, monochromatic graphics, which give the game an artistic feel that brings it closer to works such as Return of the Obra Dinn. Angular textures and stiff character animations evoke associations with RPG's from the 1990s.

It's worth mentioning that Jozef Pavelka implemented tools in his work that allow users to modify the original production.
