Gris is an artistic 2D platformer. We are guided by the actions of the title girl trying to deal with the painful past. We travel through a beautiful, surreal world, solving puzzles and overcoming simple platform sequences. The game is the work of Nomad's debuting studio.
Gris is a two-dimensional adventure platform game from the debuting Spanish Nomada Studio. The title was published by Devolver Digital.
We play as titular Gris - a young girl full of hope, but also despair caused by the painful events of the past. Lost in her own world, the protagonist travels through unusual places, trying to deal with her emotions.
Unlike similarly artistic productions, Gris does not try to create a bigger challenge. The creators focused on creating a unique experience, like Journey. We travel through successive locations, solving simple puzzles and completing uncomplicated platforming sequences, as well as interacting with the characters.
During the game, the heroine matures emotionally, thanks to which she gains access to new abilities and paths. All this in the form of an experience without stress or frustration. The title also offers optional challenges that test the player's skills.
Many professional artists took part in the work on Gris. Thanks to this, the game offers a unique visual setting, captivating both with location designs and heroes' animations. The artistic character is emphasized by the calm music composed by Marco "Berlinist" Albano.

Video games thrill us mainly with story, gameplay and pretty graphics. The first two don't always go together, but when they do, it's usually a sign that the creators had quite an ace up their sleeves.

"Playability matters, not graphics" is often the justification for poor visuals. Graphics, however, can be much more than beautiful or ugly. It can also be ingenious, intriguing, and unusual, and these are the examples of the most unique games.

Shacknews: 7 / 10 by Brittany Vincent
It looks great, it's smooth, and you sure can jump a lot – but it's unsatisfying in so many ways that make it difficult to recommend over more competent and feature-rich games in the genre. After all, you know the old adage: beauty is only skin-deep.
God is a Geek: 6.5 / 10 by Chris Hyde
As an audio and visual package, Gris is stunning. However some missteps in gameplay prevent it from being something special.
DualShockers: 9.5 / 10 by Rachael Fiddis
To call this a simple 2D platforming video game would be to discredit the meticulous work and passion the developers put into this title, not to mention the breathtaking craftsmanship and mental health story you travel on with Gris. The only thing left for me to do now is to play it over again and I can’t wait.
