Completexbox: 90 / 100 by Dan Boise

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is one of the best adventure games of the year. It captures the atmosphere of the movies, using Indy tricks is a blast. Whilst the game isn’t perfect, it does have a few quirks like borderline bulletproof enemies, Troy Baker, and some unnecessary brief sequences of gameplay, it doesn’t deter the whole experience. I’m not going to lie, but I believe featuring third person perspective would’ve added to the fun. Either way, don’t miss it, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is great banger to end the year on.

Tom's Guide: 4 / 5 by Alix Blackburn

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is an exhilarating adventure that features fun combat, engaging exploration and a story that perfectly embodies the warmth of the iconic franchise. While it occasionally faces traversal hiccups, it remains a thrilling action-packed experience.

Use a Potion: 8.5 / 10

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle captures the spirit of the films with flair, delivering a brilliant puzzle-filled adventure that looks the part on the PlayStation 5. Whilst there are some inconsistencies within the combat, the experience as a whole is too charming, cinematic, and well-crafted to ignore, with the game capturing the authenticity of an Indiana Jones movie perfectly. If you’re an Indy fan or just in the mood for old-school thrills and clever puzzling with modern polish, this one’s worth certainly cracking the whip for.

The main pros of the game

  • Immersive Experience: Players feel like they are truly stepping into the role of Indiana Jones, with a strong sense of adventure and exploration reminiscent of the classic films. The first-person perspective enhances immersion.
  • Strong Narrative and Characters: The story is engaging, fitting well within the Indiana Jones universe, and the characters are well-written, with Troy Baker's voice acting being particularly praised for capturing the essence of Indiana Jones.
  • Visuals and Atmosphere: The graphics are stunning, with detailed environments that evoke the settings of the movies. The sound design, including the music, contributes to the cinematic feel.
  • Puzzles and Exploration: The game features well-designed puzzles that provide a satisfying challenge, and the semi-open world allows for exploration and discovery, rewarding players for deviating from the main path.
  • Nostalgic Elements: The game incorporates humor and references from the original films, making it a nostalgic experience for fans.

The main cons of the game

  • AI and Combat Issues: The enemy AI can be inconsistent, sometimes appearing oblivious or overly alert, which can detract from stealth gameplay. Combat, while fun, can feel repetitive and lacks depth.
  • Performance and Optimization: Some players experienced performance issues, including bugs and frame rate drops, especially in graphically intensive areas. The game may require a high-end PC to run smoothly.
  • Length and Content: While the main story is enjoyable, some players found the game too long or felt that certain side quests were not engaging enough. The DLC was viewed as underwhelming and not worth the price for some.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • Stealth Mechanics: Players noted a desire for more depth in stealth gameplay, including the ability to effectively use disguises and a more robust stealth system.
  • Variety in Combat: There were calls for more variety in enemy types and combat encounters to keep the gameplay fresh.
  • Improved AI: A more intelligent enemy AI could enhance the challenge and engagement during combat and stealth sequences.
  • Better Boss Fights: Boss encounters were criticized for being poorly designed and not living up to the standard set by the rest of the game.
  • Collectible Management: Some players felt that the sheer number of collectibles could be overwhelming and detracted from the overall experience.

Summary

  • Overall, *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle* is well-received, especially among fans of the franchise, but it has some areas for improvement that could elevate the experience further.
