Castel Sant'Angelo
Castel Sant'Angelo is the first location visited upon arrival at the Vatican. You'll have to go through it at night, finding your first secrets and puzzles. You can return to Castel Sant'Angelo later in the game after unlocking the main map - the passage is in the southeastern part of the Vatican.
Vatican City
This is the main, largest map of Vatican City. It includes the Apostolic Library (which also has its own map), the Belvedere Courtyard, the Apostolic Palace, the Excavation Site, and the Fountain of Confession (you'll later complete a puzzle unlocking its underground passage).
As you traverse the city you must watch out for enemy captains who can see through your disguise, as well as the Restricted Areas heavily guarded by the Fascists - we've marked those areas on the map. Not every area is accessible right away, some only becoming available after progressing through the main story.
Apostolic Library
The Apostolic Library is an area visited after completing Castel Sant'Angelo and meeting Father Antonio. You can explore the library's main rooms (which require a priest disguise and the clergal key). Together with Antonio you'll also get to explore the library's secret underground.
Tower of Nicholas V and its Underworld
The entrance to the tower is located within Vatican City and you'll need to explore it during the quest The Stolen Cat Mummy. The tower has its own, separate, smaller map. You can unlock a secret passage in the tower and go down to the sewers.
The Underworld is located under the Tower of Nicholas V and you will need to explore it during the main questline. It's home to puzzles (such as Sacred Wounds and the Tomb of the Warrior Giant), many clues and collectibles.
Lower Necropolis
This is part of the Underworld, which you'll visit after solving the Tomb of the Warrior Giant puzzle. You'll get to swim, treasure hunt and fight Fascists investigating the Necropolis.
Fountain Underground
The Underground below the Fountain of Confession can be accessed after solving its corresponding puzzle - this is the final area visited in the Vatican. You'll need to complete the Silver Trial and the Gold Trial to acquire two giant keys.
Vatican Museum
The museum can be explored during the optional quest A Nun in Trouble, alongside Gina. Together, her and Indy will look for clues, solve simple puzzles and fight more Fascists.
Fast travel in the Vatican
Vatican City features a fast travel system. It's limited to signposts located at different points of interests - you have to visit the signpost first to unlock it.
