The Rogue Prince of Persia is an action platform game enriched with clearly outlined roguelike elements. This is one of the spin-offs of the Prince of Persia series. The game was created by Evil Empire studio, a development team operating under the wings of Motion Twin, which took over the Dead Cells project in 2019 and provided a number of updates and DLC, including Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania.

Plot

The main character of The Rogue Prince of Persia is the titular prince, the son of King Peroz. After Ctesiphon, the capital of his kingdom, fell victim to an invasion by the Huns wielding shamanic magic, the protagonist must embark on a long and dangerous journey to confront the invaders. The prince will eventually transform from a reckless warrior into a fearless hero.

SavePoint Gaming: 7.5 / 10 by Jake Su

After more than ten hours spent with The Rogue Prince of Persia, there is every bit of a good roguelite within. The freedom of movement is excellent, and it aids the way combat unfolds naturally, but everything else is not up to par. Whether the game reaches its full potential is anyone’s guess at this moment, and launching in its current state, even in Early Access, is a risk that doesn’t feel like it is worth it. The idea is that the team is able to build from here, and just like the genre it represents, the hope is that fans will give them the support and time needed to do just that.

GamingBolt: 8 / 10 by Ravi Sinha

The Rogue Prince of Persia combines a non-linear narrative and rogue-like structure with the excellent combat and movement that Evil Empire is known for. Though some rough edges remain, it's a great start to early access.

GameSpot: 8 / 10 by Jordan Ramée

The Rogue Prince of Persia may still be in early access, but it's already a strong roguelike.
