200 Games Instead of One; Picture Summarizes Xbox Game Pass

A picture appeared on the web that perfectly sums up the difference in approach to the gaming market between Microsoft and Sony at the brink of ninth generation consoles. The picture is a better advertisement for Xbox Series X / S than many official marketing materials.

Xbox Game Pass is storming the industry.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. A picture created by an Xbox fan compares the offers of Sony and Microsoft in a funny way;
  2. The Internet-conquering illustration refers to the Xbox Game Pass service.

On September 22, Internet user Idir Samir published an image on Twitter, which perfectly sums up Microsoft's offer on the eve of ninth-gen consoles launch and, in fact, is a better advertisement than official marketing materials. The picture, which is very popular online (it can be found on Reddit or 4Chan), shows how many games we will be able to play on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S by spending $80.

The picture refers to the attractiveness of the Xbox Game Pass service, thanks to which for $10 a month we can access and play a huge library of titles - including exclusive game created by Microsoft's studios (on the day of release). What's more, thanks to the recent recent acquisition of ZeniMax - owner of Bethesda Softworks - by the Redmond giant, and the planned inclusion of EA Play games in the offer, the catalogue of available titles will soon expand even further.

Xbox Game Pass also has its drawbacks

Of course, there is also the other side of the medal - the games are available in the Game Pass for a certain period of time and we have no influence on when they are pulled from the service, which forces the players to play a given title within a certain timeframe. What's more, while we can resell or exchange a game on a physical disc (of course, to buy boxed versions we need to have a console with a reader), the money spent on the Game Pass cannot be recovered in any way.

Sony is looking for its answer to the Xbox Game Pass.

There's no denying that on the brink of the next generation, it's Microsoft that seems to be better at sensing trends in the industry. The success of Xbox Game Pass can redefine the way we approach gaming. Sony is aware of this and is looking for answers to the competition's move - the best proof is the recently announced PlayStation Plus Collection service. Although the offer on PlayStation 5 Showcase is much more modest than in Microsoft's subscription, there is a number of exciting items on the list that are known from PlayStation 4, and all we'll need to do to play them is buy a PS Plus subscription (no extra charge). The huge popularity of PS4 and the vast catalogues of games accumulated over the years, which many players won't want to part with, can also be an advantage for PS5. However, the Japanese must be aware that this wave will not carry them all the way to the end of the ninth generation.

From other news related to Microsoft, the company has just launched its own channel on TikTok and started its presence on this platform with a compilation of memes dedicated to Xbox Series S.
