Abandoned is Silent Hill From Hideo Kojima? Coming to PC and PS5

Abandoned, a game which, according to Internet theories, is a new installment of the Silent Hill series, will be released not only on PS5, but also on PC. Blue Box Game, the studio responsible for it is to show the first gameplay this Friday.

In early April, PlayStation's YouTube channel showed a trailer for Abandoned, an extremely realistic first-person survival horror game from unknown studio Blue Box Game, in which we play as a man struggling to survive in a dark forest. Gameplay footage of the title was supposed to be shown "soon", and the game will debut in the fourth quarter of 2021 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. However, yesterday the developers sort of confirmed that the game will also be available on PC as well. This is good news, because according to Internet theories, the game is actually the next installment in the Silent Hill series, with Hideo Kojima himself being responsible for it.

A kind of confirmation of the release of Abandoned on PC came directly from the devs on Twitter - responding to a post by a user without a PS5, they admitted that the PC community will also have reason to rejoice. This would turn into true euphoria if Blue Box Game's title really was a return of Silent Hill and under Kojima's watchful eye.

However, at the moment all we have in this regard are rumors and far fetched conspiracy theories. Some of them were collected by Reddit users. Hideo Kojima boasted on Twitter that he is reading a novel by Karin Slaughter, called The Silent Wife and a collection of short stories Full Throttle by Stephen King's son, Joe Hill (so the words "silent" and "hill" have appeared). Other times, fans have noticed that hills are visible on the developers' YouTube channel, or realised that Blue Box Game's boss Hasan Kahraman's initials are the same as Hideo Kojima's (H.K.), and that the Japanese developer's name translated into Turkish is Kahraman.

There's even more: references to the Pyramidhead - an antagonist mostly known from Silent Hill 2 - the P.T. symbol (that was the name of the demo of the canceled Silent Hills) on the trunk of one of the trees in the trailer of Abandoned, Blue Box Game developers' references to the phrase "snowflakes of blood" in the demo, their rather explicit riddles (which they quickly deny, however, while claiming to have no connection to Kojima) and other nods, large and small, to fans of Death Stranding and the Metal Gear Solid series. This wouldn't be the first time Hideo Kojima has toyed with gamers before announcing a new game. MGS V: The Phantom Pain was initially presented as a game from an obscure studio called Moby Dick, which would be headed by a certain Joakim Mogren (the name is an anagram of Kojima's last name). Sounds familiar, right?

So something seems to be up. The question is: what? We may find out the answer this Friday, on June 25, when a gameplay of Abandoned is to be revealed. Then we'll probably learn the exact release date of the title.
