Age of Wonders 4 Goes Big on Steam; Gamers Dig This 4X Strategy

Yesterday, marked the release of Age of Wonders 4, the latest installment in the popular series of fantasy turn-based 4X strategy games. Looking at how Triumph's game has fared on Steam it can be said that the launch was successful, although there were some problems.

1. First of all, the game was a big success in commercial terms. At the time of writing this news, it ranks second on Steam's list of global bestsellers (bested only by CS:GO).
2. Age of Wonders 4 also achieves impressive activity results - the launch day record was 38,296 concurrent users on Steam.
3. This result is almost double the record of the previous installment, i.e. Age of Wonders III.
4. Players are not only eager to buy the latest game, but also give it good reviews. Among those available on Steam 76% praise Age of Wonders 4, which is categorized as a "mostly positive" reception.
5. Among other things, players praise the excellent performance, the best battle system in the history of the series, a large variety of units, interesting mechanics for developing magic and significantly improved management of cities.
6. The game is criticized mainly for its very modest naval gameplay options. Players also complain about technical issues - it should be noted, however, that in most of them they are quite small and they prevent gameplay only for some users. So we don't have here a repeat of the situation from this year's monster games, such as the PC versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or The Last of Us: Part I.

Studio Triumph and publisher Paradox Interactive can therefore be satisfied. Age of Wonders 4 is selling brilliantly and has generally been well received by fans of the genre. PC gamers can also breathe a sigh of relief, as after a series of disappointments they finally got a major release that, while not technically perfect, debuted in a condition that enables it to be playable and ejoyable on most PCs.
