All Species in Against the Storm - Description and Characteristics

In this guide we will present all races in Against the Storm. You can learn in our text about all species available in version 0.48.

Against the Storm is a strategy game, which is now in early access. Right now it features 5 races – Human, Beaver, Lizard, Fox and Harpy. Those species are different – they have various needs and strong or weak sides. What is more, only 3 of them are available form the beginning (Humans, Beavers and Lizards). Foxes and Harpies are unlocked at 10 and 15 level. We will present them all.

Basic terminology

In this section we will explain the terminology used in the descriptions.

  1. Needs – Abundance or lack of these can increase or lower your people’s Resolve.
  2. Resolve – is a happiness of different species. If it is high enough, you will gain Reputation. In the case it is very low, people will start to leave you.
  3. Reputation points – they are needed to successfully establish a city.
  4. Base resolve – the basic amount of happiness, without any needs fulfilled.
  5. Break interval – time between citizens’ breaks.
  6. Resilient – shows how fast Resolve reacts to change. A highly resilient species reacts very slowly to Resolve effects.
  7. Demanding – shows how much resolve is required to generate Reputation.
  8. Decadent – shows how far the reputation bar moves after gaining the Reputation Point. Highly decadent species need more Resolve to generate subsequent Reputation Points.
  9. Hunger tolerance – a maximum amount of hunger stacks a species can withstand.
