“[Blank] bread, doesn’t stay around for long” is one of Buzzwords in Cookie Jam. But you probably know that and are looking for the answer. We have it.

Every week Cookie Jam releases new Buzzwords. Some of them are easy like “[blank] as sugar” or “Keeps you clean while baking”. However, after a relatively smooth beginning, the questions have become quite hard! If you are not a culinary enthusiast, you may have problems with answering them. Let’s be honest, if you don’t like sweets, figuring out “Sweet bread that contains eggs and butter”, “Filling in a pastry cup, possible fruit top”, “Layers of fruits, sponge, and custard” or “Sweet, flaky pastry from Denmark” can be problematic. It gets even more difficult as some of these treats are country or region specific. It is also the case with “[blank] bread, doesn’t stay around for long”
It seems that in this portion of Buzzwords developers decided to take us on a trip around the world. It was a while since there were so many questions about various dishes (well… mostly sweets, based on what I have answered so far). However, these inquiries are often about regional treats. I love learning more about different cultures, so I don’t mind. However, figuring them out can be troublesome. That’s why we are here.
While the answer itself is only “short”, the cookie is called “shortbread”. It is a treat which originates in Scotland and dates as far as the XII century. This dessert is made of sugar, wheat flour and butter. So, why “doesn’t stay around for long” is in the hint? It is here probably because shortbread is eaten during festivities like weddings and Christmas. So, these are quite short periods of time… or maybe they are so delicious that they vanish quickly. It happens too!
