Apple May be Working on VR Goggles

There is a chance that Apple will soon create its own VR set. Leaked images reveal a controller being part of HTC Vive, which could mean cooperation between the two companies.

We don't have any concepts for the new device yet, so here's a funny picture.

Apple rarely enters new market segments, but once it does, it does so with a bang. Soon, the company's offer may expand to include virtual reality goggles with a controller. The first references to the company's work on a VR kit date back to 2017, when Bloomberg announced that Apple is cooperating with HTC.

This time, journalists of MacRumors have reached the leak of the latest version of iOS 14, which is not yet officially available. They found a picture of something that seems to be a controller for an AR or VR set. It is extremely similar to the device used in HTC Vive Focus. This would mean that the collaboration between the American and Taiwanese company is alive and kicking.

In the first photo, the controller is part of the HTC Vive Focus, and in the second, a Apple's own prototype:

Earlier this month it was discovered that iOS 14 contains an augmented reality application called "Gobi". Although the software is designed for smartphones, the application can be used for testing a new device. It is worth noting that one of the interesting novelties in AR technology, which Apple is currently testing, is bowling. For now, the game is launched at the intersection at the Apple office in Sunnyvale. Passers-by can roll the ball through the pedestrian crossing and strike the pins across the street. This is to make the waiting time for the green light more pleasant.

It's been almost 3 years since the first mentions that Apple might be working on AR/VR technology, and the subject comes back like a boomerang from time to time. It is not known when and if the American giant will decide to release such a set on the market at all. But if the rumors turn out to be true, we would have more competition on the virtual reality market, and that would certainly benefit us, the users.
