Obsidian's Avowed Could be Released in First Half of 2023

According to new reports, Avowed, the next big RPG from Obsidian, will debut in the first half of 2023.

Reliable reports have appeared online suggesting that the release of Avowed is planned for the first half of next year.

Reports on Avowed

The information comes from Jez Corden from Windows Central. He's a reliable source, especially when it comes to Microsoft-related topics. Last year he reported, among other things, that several Ubisoft games were headed to Game Pass, which turned out to be true.

Corden revealed the reports about Avowed during the World of Gaming podcast. Overall, he had the following things to say about the game:

  1. The game is supposed to be much more ambitious than Obsidian Entertainment's previous projects. Thanks to Microsoft's money the studio was able to hire many new employees and this is to be clearly visible in the quality of execution and the game's scale.
  2. The team creating Avowed is larger and more experienced in working with Unreal Engine than in the case of The Outer Worlds, so we can expect a significant jump in quality.
  3. Avowed is scheduled for release in the first or second quarter of 2023.
  4. The first major gameplay presentation will occur later this year.

The game is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S. At the moment, no planned release date has been officially announced.
