Baldur's Gate 3 Patch #5 Goes Live, Adds Personal Miniquests

Larian Studios released patch #5 for Baldur's Gate III. It introduces a ton of changes and improvements and adds personal goals for companions, which we complete as a series of mini-adventures.

PATCH #5 INCLUDES:
  1. AI and combat mechanics improvements;
  2. Changes to the rest system;
  3. Interface improvements;
  4. Bug fixes;
  5. A series of companion mini-quests with personal objectives.

Baldur's Gate III, now in early access, has received a new update. The patch is simply called patch #5 and you can download it on Steam. The update changes a lot, but focuses more on improving the gameplay mechanics than on new content. Patch 5 does not introduce additional classes or campaign chapters, but strongly affects what is already available in the early version of Baldur's Gate 3.

Team members have gained personal goals. They take the form of a series of mini-quests based on the character's story, the completion of which is rewarded with inspiration points. The patch also introduces 12 new magical items and additional scenes and interactions (including those related to Shadowheart).

In combat, companions gained the ability to disarm enemies. The AI of both team members and enemies has also been improved, resulting in more logical decisions made by the AI during battles.

Patch #5 also improves the dice roll interface to make it clearer and easier for the player to see what bonuses will be applied. In addition, if casting a spell on a given target is impossible, the game will finally inform us of the reasons for this.

Party camps were reworked to better reflect the region where we decide to set up our tents. The devs also added mechanics that distinguish between short and long rest, which affects character behavior during the battle. Eating food no longer regenerates health instantly and food has become a raw material used in when in camps.

These are only selected changes. The update introduces a total of several hundred improvements, including many improvements to gameplay balance and scenes in the campaign, as well as removes a ton of technical errors.

Baldur's Gate III is currently available only on PC and Stadia. The full version will launch in 2022.
