Blizzard's latest stream brought a lot of information about the upcoming season 3 of Diablo 4. The developers have taken the players' criticism to heart. There will be big changes in the game's balance and a lot of new content.
The creators of Diablo IV seem to have finally assumed a correct bearing and are on the right track to compensate fans for the slightly disappointing start of the production (i.e. Season 1, as the base campaign was rather praised already from the beginning). A few days earlier, Blizzard released detailed information about the Season of the Construct, which will start on January 23. And today, we received a full list of changes introduced by the Season.
According to the information provided by the developers, Blizzard will now provide two updates per season - the first at the beginning of the season, and the second halfway through (i.e. after approx. 1.5 months.
When it comes to Season of the Construct, the first update will bring a anticipated change related to PvP. Players who do not enjoy fighting with other players won't have to complete PvP tasks to proceed with the objectives in the individual chapters. This change will definitely save some people unnecessary frustration.
The directions of changes in balance and the overall philosophy of game design also seem promising. Although developers declare that they prefer to make character classes more powerful rather than weaken them, any extremes - allowing for the creation of exceptionally powerful "builds" - will be considered a mistake that needs to be corrected.
The upcoming update will introduce changes to the class balance (supposedly they will not be limited to manipulating numbers), and each of the classes will receive "something new". Change will be brought to markers determining the chance of looting individual items and monster statistics, and favorite elements from the previous seasons are to find new life in this upcoming season. You can view the details here. Here is a comment from the developers:
Itâ??s important to us that when a player chooses to fully invest in a Skill, the payoff is immense. In pursuit of this goal, several of our new Unique, and Legendary items are targeting Skills that have yet to reach their full potential. Weâ??re excited to see what players accomplish with our new Unique items for Barbarianâ??s Rend, Druidâ??s Lightning Storm, and Sorcererâ??s Meteor.
Weâ??re also targeting some pressing issues for each Class. Necromancers with Cult Leader should see their Minions strike a bit harder, Barbarians shouldnâ??t feel that 3 Shouts are a requirement for their success, and Sorceresses applying Vulnerable with Lightning Spear should open new build opportunities.
There are also Class updates to items and Skills that are underperforming, such as the Rogueâ??s Ranged Unique Items, and the Necromancerâ??s Golem.
The mid-season patch will also contain changes of similar character, but there won't be too much correcting. With the patches, the developers will focus on problems that prove to be the most urgent.
In terms of interface and overall user experience, there will be following improvements:
