Biomutant With Free Update on PS5 and XSX/S

RPG Biomutant will soon be available on PS5 and XSX/S. Owners of the PS4 or XOne versions can expect a free next-gen update. It will offer three graphic modes.

Lukewarmly received, but very nice RPG Biomutant from Swedish studio Experiment 101 will get a dedicated release for PS5 and XSX/S. It will be released on September 6, 2022, which is more than fifteen months after the game debuted on PC, PS4 and XOne.

Those who purchased Biomutant on 8th-gen consoles, can expect a free next-gen patch on the same date.

It will offer 4K resolution, HDR support and increased frame rates. A total of three graphic modes will be available on PS5 and XSX/S:

  • Quality - providing 30 fps at 4K on PS5 and XSX (30 fps at 1440p on XSS);
  • Quality Unleashed - it's supposed to target 40+ fps and resolution up to 4K (1440p on XSS);
  • Performance - will enable the game to play at a constant 60 fps, but at 1440p resolution (on XSS it will be 1080p).

In addition, a version of Biomutant dedicated to the PS5 is expected to take full advantage of DualSense's features, such as haptic vibration and adaptive triggers.

The game's release on next-gen consoles should have a positive impact on its already good sales (more than one million copies by November 2022). Importantly, the game broke even in the first week of its release, thus meeting the expectations of the publisher THQ Nordic, as well as its parent company, the Embracer Group.
