Dark Soulslike Blasphemous Expecting a Sequel; Watch Trailer

The first trailer for Blasphemous 2, the sequel to the hit soulslike platformer, has been released.

Popularity of the Dark Souls series has resulted in a flood of games inspired by the franchise. Some developers, wanting to stand out from the sea of other games of this type, developed their soulslike projects in the form of 2D platformers. Of these, the most successful was 2019's Blasphemous.

We have known for some time that a sequel is being developed. Yesterday, during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase presentation, we finally saw the first trailer for the project and learned quite a bit new about it..

  1. The game is titled Blasphemous II
  2. The sequel is headed for PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
  3. The game will be released this year.
  4. In terms of story Blasphemous 2 will be a direct continuation of the original, and its action will begin immediately after the events of the free DLC Wounds of Eventide, at the end of which the protagonist lands in a new area.
  5. The first part had lightly outlined elements of the metroidvania genre. In the sequel, these will be heavily expanded, in effect offering the players a larger and more non-linear world.
  6. The combat system will be enriched with new attacks, combos and finishers. The progression system will also be expanded.

Blasphemous was received very warmly - on Steam 90% of player reviews praised the game. The game was also a commercial success. Within two years more than one million copies were sold. Expectations for the sequel are therefore high, but the freshly-released trailer enables us to believe that the developers will manage to meet them.
