Blizzard announces a Diablo crossover with cult Berserk manga
Blizzard surprises fans by announcing Diablo's collaboration with the Berserk manga.

Blizzard quite unexpectedly announced a collab between the Diablo brand and the legendary Berserk manga. The collaboration includes both Diablo IV and Diablo Immortal, and the first announcement has already hit the official channels of the series.
In the teaser, we can see a barbarian fighting his way through demonic hordes, dressed in Guts' armor, the main character of Berserk, well known to fans. The character wields the gigantic Dragon Slayer sword, and on his body shines the Berserker Armor, a powerful artifact that feeds on the wearer's rage. These are iconic items that manga and anime fans will recognize right away and will make their way to the dark world of the Sanctuary.
"I'm incredibly proud of this collab," wrote Adam Fletcher, Blizzard's community manager, on his X profile. It's hard to blame him, such a combination is a dream for many fans of both universes. For some, it may even mean a kind of ennoblement, after all, the creator of Berserk, Kentaro Miura, is a true legend. Blizzard has, in a sense, been granted a big honor.
A few words about Berserk
Berserk, an incredibly dark manga by Kentaro Miura, debuted in 1989, gaining cult status thanks to its unconventional, depressive plot and original drawing style. The anime based on it first appeared in 1997, and subsequent adaptations were created in the following decades. Miura passed away in 2021, leaving an unfinished work, but his vision is being continued by his colleagues. The manga is still being published.
Berserk inspirations have been present in games for years, especially in the creations of Hidetaka Miyazaki (Dark Souls series, Elden Ring). Not only do the aesthetics of the manga influence these games, but the themes of fighting against fate and despair clearly reference the fate of Guts. Even the legendary sword from the manga has seen spiritual successors in FromSoftware titles. Those clumsy yet beloved greatswords liked by players going for a strength build, with particular emphasis on the Moonlight Greatsword, appear in various forms in almost every Miyazaki game.
Blizzard, unfortunately, hasn't yet announced the start date of the event or the full list of contents. We might also get to use the equipment of the sorceress Schierke or the agile warrior Serpico. There are many characters in Guts' party whose weapons could be adapted for the needs of Diablo.
