Capcom Thrilled With Strength of Steam and PC Market

Capcom has boasted an impressive increase in PC game sales.

Capcom is has been rapidly expanding its support for the PC gaming market and the publisher's latest financial results show that these investments have proven to be very successful.

  1. In the previous fiscal year (1.04.2021-31.03.2022), revenues from the sale of Capcom games on Steam grew by 62.5%, reaching about $126 million.
  2. PC versions account for 15.6% of all Capcom games sold and this share is increasing.
  3. By investing in PC, the publisher can reach customers in more countries and better monetize old games. Last year, Capcom sold 353 titles on PC in 237 countries.

Recent years have seen Capcom investing aggressively in PC gaming. Currently, most of the publisher's new titles are coming to PC. What is more, it is becoming increasingly rare for PC editions to be released later than console versions.

The publisher has been saying for some time that PC is becoming its most important hardware platform. The company's COO, Haruhiro Tsujimoto, recently stated that within two years, half of Capcom's games will be sold on PC.

Capcom's latest release is Monster Hunter: Rise - Sunbreak, which debuted today simultaneously on PC and Nintendo Switch. The game is very popular - over the past two weeks both the expansion and the base game were among the biggest bestsellers on Steam.
