Contraband Delayed? Speculation About Just Cause Devs' Latest Game

During an episode of their podcast, Youtuber Rand al Thor 19 and Jez Corden of Windows Central shared information about the alleged delat of Contraband from 2022 to 2023.

There is little info about Contraband on the web, despite the fact that it was announced last year, but this doesn't mean that nothing is going on around the latest game by Just Cause devs.

The new, unconfirmed information was provided by youtuber Rand al Thor 19 and Jez Corden from Windows Central. They co-host the Xbox Two Podcast, where they share the latest news and speculation about games coming to Microsoft's consoles.

A year ahead

In their program Rand al Thor 19 and Jez Corden informed that to their knowledge Contraband was supposed to be released this year, but the release has been delayed to 2023.

An excerpt from the podcast focused on Contraband begins around the 34:32 mark of the video.

This information is interesting, because until now we have not known the game's release date (delayed or otherwise). We'll probably learn more about Xbox Game Studios' release plans from official announcements. Perhaps the rumor reported by the Xbox Two Podcast will be confirmed.

So far, all we know about Contraband is that it is to be a co-op action game, focusing on smuggling. The story is set in the 1970s in a fictional country called Bayan. What is interesting, despite the fact that the main theme of the game will be smuggling, which is quite a brutal criminal activity, recent reports said that the game would focus more on vehicle clashes, with killing opponents treated as the last possible choice.

Contraband is heading to Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC. The game will be available on Game Pass from day one. However, we still don't have a clear confirmation when the release will take place.
