Cyberpunk 2077 Takes Up Over 100 GB on PS4/PS5

PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 need to prepare themselves to download a huge bulk of data. One of the devs also admits that the day 1 patch will completely change the console version of the game.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and PS5 requires 102.9 GB of data;
  2. Although some may already have downloaded the game in version 1.01, it does not include the day 1 patch;
  3. One of the developers argues that the so-called "Day 1 Patch" will change this title on consoles beyond recognition.

Two days before the release of Cyberpunk 2077, we learned how much space PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners will have to reserve for the game, and one of the developers says that once we install the upgrade prepared by his team for the console version, Cyberpunk 2077 will become a 'different game'.

Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and PS5 - storage requirements

A Reddit forum user from New Zealand (where the game can already be pre-loaded), shared a photo that suggests that we need to download 102.9GB of data on Sony's consoles (whether on PlayStation 5, where Cyberpunk 2077 will be available through backwards compatibility, or PlayStation 4). As the operation of PlayStation Network is far from perfect, we need to be prepared for possible download issues and less than impressive speed once the rest of the world storms the servers.

You might be thinking that owners of Xbox One, Series S and Series X consoles will have to prepare themselves to download a set of files of similar size. Interestingly, 102.9 GB is over 30 GB more space than Cyberpunk 2077 requires on PC.

It is worth adding that we are talking about version 1.01 of the game, in which we will find a number of improvements prepared by the developers. Things that were reworked include gameplay and stability, as well as potential issues; besides, the whole thing was enriched with enigmatic "various functions". What's most interesting, however, the game hasn't received the day 1 patch yet, which is supposed to eliminate further problems (and will probably also weigh quite an amount).

Cyberpunk 2077 - Day 1 Patch

The importance of downloading updates prepared for the console versions of Cyberpunk 2077 is demonstrated by one of the developers. Fabian Mario Döhla from CD Projekt RED confirmed via Twitter that after installing the day 1patch, Cyberpunk 2077 will become "a different game" in terms of stability. If his words will be covered in reality, there is a good chance that the problems pointed out by reviewers were largely due to the old "build" of the project.
