James Bond Returns in Cypher 007; Announcement Trailer Available
Cypher 007 will be James Bond's return to video games - for now only in Apple Arcade - before the famous agent gets his game from the makers of Hitman.
After many years, James Bond will live to see a new video game, though not necessarily of a large caliber. The famous agent will return on September 29 in Cypher 007, an isometric view stealth game heading for iOS to Apple Arcade. Perhaps the title will also hit other systems and devices after a year, i.e. when the exclusivity period for Apple's platform comes to an end.
The first teaser reveals nothing concrete, but the information was shared by Tilting Down (the game's developer and publisher; via X (Twitter) / App Store) and IGN. The latter has released the first trailer Cypher 007 (available below).
This time James Bond will try to deal, once and for all, with the Spectre agency and its leader Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Moreover, it will not be the only old acquaintance: The game will incorporate iconic locations, characters and vehicles known from other Bond movies.
As for the gameplay, Cypher 007 will most likely be a stealth game rather than a shooter in the style of GoldenEye 007. The agent of Her (currently His) Majesty will not shy away from combat, but it looks like a lot of time will be spent on searching for documents and secrets, while enemies will usually be evaded or eliminated in silence.
Apparently, the game will also include a points system: players will be able to compete against each other on scoreboards. The game's card on the App Store also mentions upgrading and unlocking gadgets, as well as cosmetic items.
It should be recalled that this is not the only game with James Bond. After years of dormancy, the famous agent will also get a game from none other than the stealth game experts from IO Interactive. Unfortunately, the developer is in no hurry to reveal any information about the project.
