'Philanthropy and Ultra-violence;' Strange Video introduces Rockstar Games Co-founder's New Company

We learned what Absurd Ventures, a company set up by Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser, will do. The field of its activities is perfectly captured in an enigmatic video.

Some of you may remember that Dan Houser - co-founder of Rockstar Games and creative director of the GTA and Red Dead Redemption series, as well as Max Payne 3 or Bully - established Absurd Ventures in June 2021. For the past two years, we didn't know exactly what it would do. Now it has been revealed that its goal is to "create new universes and tell great stories - wherever and however we can."

Does this mean game development? Not necessarily - Houser wants AV to write stories and/or scripts for video games, but also live shows, animation, books, graphic novels and podcasts. The broad field in which the company wants to operate is well illustrated by the video below. I will not cite its description - you need to see it yourselves.

The motto of Absurd Ventures is: "Finally - an American institution that everyone can hate.". It is difficult to know how to understand this sentence. Your attention, however, may be drawn to the word "American". It follows from the fact that the headquarters of AB is located Santa Monica, California, although the company was registered in the UK - as Absurd Ventures in Games.

It appears, three years after leaving the Rockstar - which was officially announced in February 2020, and became a reality a month later - Dan Houser is ready to get back into the game. If that means he's going to serve us more great stories - such as the one in Red Dead Redemption II - then we should all be happy about that, whether they will be told in the form of video games or other works of fiction.
