It’s the second time in a matter of a few days that Destiny 2 developers have disabled the Encore exotic mission. Fans are furious.
While most of Destiny 2 players are all about completing new missions, added in The Edge of Fate (like Graviton through the Ages or Dark Academia), some were faithful to the old content, farming the Encore Exotic mission in Pinnacle Ops. However, those people may be surprised to hear that this quest was disabled a few hours ago. It is the second time in a few days. The reason for that is a glitch.
The Encore Exotic mission in Pinnacle Ops is a good way to farm… it seems that even too good. On July 18 (so just a few days ago), Destiny 2 developers announced that they disabled it due to an issue. What was the problem?
We have identified an issue where the Encore mission is substantially easier to complete, and dropping higher quantities of rewards, than intended within Pinnacle Ops.
So, in other words – it was too easy to farm. Of course, the players were not happy about that. Some of them pointed out that fixing it 2 days after discovering it by the community only hurts those who did not use it. But it turned out even worse…
Developers have promised that they will reenable the mission once everything is fixed. And they did… though not for long. A few hours ago, Bungie decided to disable the Encore mission once again. What is the reason this time? A glitch which gave too many rewards.
Ex: Some players found a way to duplicate chests and receive 3+ engrams per minute without any combat required.
As in the previous case, many community members are not satisfied with such an outcome. Some people are asking to make grind easier to avoid such situations in the future. Of course, grind is an important part of the games such as Destiny 2. It is a way to keep players’ attention. So, Bungie is here in a difficult situation – balance between fun and tedious gameplay is a difficult thing.
As of now, it is unknown when the mission will be back. Probably, in a matter of days. However, the better question is how long it will stay.
