Diablo 2: Resurrected Without Chat and Lobby on Consoles

Players complain more and more loudly about the lack of some features in the console version of Diablo 2 Resurrected. Developers took flak for the lack of chat and lobby on launch.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • At the time of release, Diablo 2 Resurrected will not offer chat and lobbies on consoles;
  • This sparked protests from many players, for whom these are important elements of the game's community features;
  • It is possible that these elements will be introduced to the game some time after the release.

Diablo 2 Resurrected stirrs more and more controversy among players. The situation is influenced, among other things, by the game's technical condition during the beta tests. It turns out that the title is full of annoying bugs. However, this is not the only problem associated with the remaster of the iconic hack'n'slash. The console version of the game also lacks some features which fans of the original game were hoping for.

There were complaints online a while back about the lack of lobbies, and thus the ability to search for servers by name. Joining multiplayer on consoles was only possible by engaging in random gameplay or accompanying friends. According to many players, this limits the social features of Diablo 2 Resurrected. In the same category, we can also include the lack of chat, which could be used during gameplay. This caused discontent among fans, who are not convinced to using voice communication with strangers. According to them, it forces them, among other things, to listen to the noise coming from other players' homes.

However, many people believed that the lack of these elements in the beta will not mean their absence in the final version of the game. Now, however, these hopes have been dispelled by Rod Fergusson, the man responsible for the development of the Diablo series. He confessed that the team working on Resurrected is focused on bug fixes and will not introduce any new features to the game. At launch, the console versions of the game will not include chat or the ability to search for servers by name.

Interestingly, for some people this turned out to be a deal breaker. On Reddit we can find many voices of players who said that they will not buy the game until it is enriched with the above features. However, they are a relatively small percentage of the entire community and this situation probably will not affect the game's overall sales. Nothing stands in the way of the two discussed solutions being introduced in one of the post-release updates. At the time of debut, however, we shouldn't expect them.
