Diablo 4 Devs Bring Good News for Steam Deck Owners
Diablo IV will get an important news for Steam Deck owners. From now on, the game will soon boast official verification.
October 17, 2023 is an important date for fans of Diablo IV. Not only will the Season of Blood launch on this day, but Blizzard's title will also hit Steam. Many people are wondering whether the said title will offer Steam Deck support. In order not to keep players in the dark, the developers clarified the situation now.
Blizzard Entertainment's director of community development, Adam Fletcher. informed on X/Twitter that the fourth installment of Diablo will receive a "verified" status on Valve's handheld as soon as it hits Steam.
"We have heard questions about the verification of Diablo IV on Steam Deck.
We would like to announce that Diablo IV will be "verified" on Steam Deck. This will happen as early as next Tuesday with the release of the game on Steam and the start of the Season of Blood!," reads the content of the announcement.
What does the "verified" status on Steam Deck mean?
It means that the game should meet the four most important requirements:
- Data input - the game should provide full controller support, use the appropriate controller icons and can display an on-screen keyboard if necessary.
- Trouble-free - the game should not display compatibility warnings, and if it uses a launcher, it should be possible to navigate through it using the controller.
- Image - the game should support Steam Deck's default resolution (i.e., 1280 x 800 or 1280 x 720 pixels), have appropriate default settings, and the displayed text should be readable.
- System support - The game and related software should be compatible with Proton. This also applies to anti-cheat programs.
Recall that with the start of the Season of Blood, Diablo IV will receive update 1.2.0, which will introduce quite a few changes to character classes, the resistance system, unique items and damage calculation. You can get acquainted with the details of the patch here.
