Blizzard is Confident the Servers Will Hold and Diablo 4 Launch Will be Smooth

The developers of Diablo 4 argue that past tests have enabled them to fine-tune the game's servers enough to withstand the premiere onslaught of players.

The release of Diablo 4 is just three weeks away. As usual, the concern of some fans is the launch of the game, which in the case of the series has often been associated with technical issues - at least on the first day.

However, as assured by the artistic director of Diablo 4 John Mueller along with the game's associate director, Joe Piepiora, June release of the "infernal" hack & slash should go off without a hitch this time.

The developers are confident of a good launch for their latest work after a lot of data on the state of the servers was provided by open beta testing (via Eurogamer.net).

"Each beta has proven to be groundbreaking in terms of our understanding of our own technical capabilities and what we need to do to ensure a smooth launch."

Words from Diablo 4 devs seem not to be empty, given the decent launch of the recent "server slam", during which only a small group of players experienced major problems with the game's performance or queue times - which was the total opposite of the first open beta of the game.

Testing has been going on for more than a year

In an interview with Eurogamer, Joe Piepiora revealed that while public beta testing began relatively recently, internal testing on the game's servers has been going on for more than a year.

During them developers have been running millions of automated bot accounts that performed basic actions, such as picking up inventory items, killing monsters or forming parties with other "robots."

As Blizzard Entertainment devs admit, although the internal experiments proved extremely helpful, only open testing provided key information to sufficiently improve server performance.

"When people go through different ISPs and join different servers around the world, a lot more data can be obtained."

Will the developers' assurances of a smooth launch prove true? We'll find out soon enough, because Diablo 4 will be released on June 2 for those who pre-ordered the game in Deluxe or Ultimate edition. Four days later, i.e. on June 6, we will the official release of the game. The title is headed for PC, PS4, PS5, XOne and XSX/S.
