More news for fans of the Lands Between and neighboring worlds: Junya Ishizaki, director of Elden Ring: Nightreign, gave an interesting interview to PC Gamer, in which he talked, among other things, about the use of roguelike elements in the new game.

From the announcement, it was known that the game would focus on the "condensation" of the RPG experience. However, this was followed by certain design challenges, which the studio apparently managed to meet using solutions known from "roguelikes." This wasn't driven by a desire to follow modern trends, but rather a natural outcome of the game's evolution - it was required by gameplay focused on relatively short sessions, highlighting multiplayer mode.

We've never really held the stance 'let's absolutely not do anything that other companies are doing or not follow any trends.' So we didn't really see this as chasing a trend, but we saw these as interesting elements that could work well within our multiplayer-focused session-based gameplay - explained Junya Ishizaki in an interview.

The director recalls that it was necessary to implement and develop new mechanics and elements that didn't appear in either Elden Ring or any other FromSoftware game. He didn't provide examples, but fortunately, we won't have to wait too long for specifics. Very soon (more precisely on February 14th) the official online tests of the game will start.
