Elder Scrolls 6 May Feature Survival Mechanics and Original Magic System

Insider Tiffany Treadmore published some information on the sixth installment of The Elder Scrolls series. It seems that the game may see considerable changes in gameplay mechanics. These include survival elements and an original magic system, which will require us to draw signs.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. A leak regarding TES 6 suggests that the game will feature survival mechanics and a new magic system involving rune drawing;
  2. The information is only a rumor - it comes from insider Tiffany Treadmore.

A leak has appeared on the web, regarding the sixth installment of The Elder Scrolls RPG series developed by Bethesda Softworks. According to reports, the game will introduce significant changes to gameplay mechanics - we'll get, among other things, survival elements and a new magic system.

The first of these things is not a big surprise - Bethesda has experimented with a similar idea in Fallout 4 and introduced it in its latest work, Fallout 76. Transferring these solutions to a fantasy setting will not be particularly difficult (modders for years have successfully enriched the previous installments of TES - Oblivion and Skyrim - with the mechanics of hunger, thirst or cold).

Information on magic is more interesting, as casting spells is said to require drawing runes with the mouse or analogue stick. A similar solution has already appeared in other games, such as Okami HD or ARX Fatalis. Interestingly, the latter was created by Arkane Studios, a company that over a decade ago was bought out by ZeniMax Media (owner of Bethesda, which last year, in turn, ended up in the hands of Microsoft). However, such mechanics don't always appeal to the majority of players, so it's hard to say if they'll actually make it into TES VI, or if they're even being tested.

It's worth noting that the source of the above information is insider Tiffany Treadmore, whose reports have been confirmed several times in the past (including the cancelation of E3 2020 and details on one of the Nintendo Direct events). This means it's possible that there's some truth in these rumors, but just in case, approach them with caution.
