Tom Henderson reports that Ubisoft is confident of a March release of Assassin's Creed: Shadows. The informant also gave a date for lifting the review embargo and addressed preorders.
Assassin's Creed: Shadows has already been delayed twice. The game was initially set to be released on November 15th last year, but the launch was postponed to February 14th this year for additional polishing. In January, the company stated that the game would launch on March 20th, once more citing the need to refine the game as the reason. Most likely, this date is already the last one.
While it's impossible to completely rule out another delay, Insider Gaming reports that the game's developers are confident in the March release, according to their sources. In the published article, Tom Henderson writes that Ubisoft "has made preparations to increase marketing activities," including setting an embargo date for game reviews. These will be released two days before the release, on March 18.
The site reports that it spoke with several developers of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, who said that the game will be ready for its March launch. One of them stated that at this moment it is "almost finished." So it seems that Ubisoft's "last hope" will indeed debut next month.
It's worth noting that although the studio's previous big game - Star Wars: Outlaws - turned out to be a financial failure, Shadows may do much better. This is indicated by the game's pre-orders, which according to the company are "stable" and comparable to AC: Odyssey, the second-best installment of the series in terms of financial success.
Insider Gaming claims that currently, 300 thousand people have pre-ordered AC: Shadows, which is twice as good a result as with Outlaws in the corresponding period before the release. According to estimates, the game may sell about 3.5 million copies in the first month after its launch.
Assassin's Creed: Shadows is heading to PC, PS5, and XSX/S. Before purchasing, be sure to check out the system requirements, which are quite high.
