Do you like the open-world campaigns typical of the Far Cry series? If so, you will probably like the next installment of the Call of Duty: Black Ops series. According to reports from Insider Gaming, this still very enigmatic shooter is to be inspired by the Ubisoft series in terms of gameplay.

Currently, the game's open world will see the player and their squad navigate the map more akin to that of Far Cry than anything we've seen before in the Call of Duty universe. Players will be able to utilize vehicles to get around, as well as using a fast travel system to get from one point to the next - explains Tom Henderson.

If the journalist's reports turned out to be accurate, it wouldn't be the first instance of the Call of Duty series exploring an open world. We already had the CoD "romance" with this type of concept in Modern Warfare III. However, last year's title was heavily criticized by the community for, among other things, its short campaign, so it's surprising that Treyarch, the studio allegedly overseeing Gulf War - the rumored subtitle for the new Black Ops - wants to continue this trend.

It would definitely be a risky move, but it's important to note that Activision used pre-existing resources in creating the campaign for MW III. In the new Black Ops, everything will be designed from scratch.

It's worth to note that the above reports aren't official. Therefore, we must be patient and wait for specific information about the game from Activision. You can read more about the current rumors regarding the Gulf War here.
