FIFA 21 on PS5 and XSX Offers Truly Next-gen Visuals

A video published on YouTube shows the difference in graphics between the 8th- and 9th-gen consoles in FIFA 21. Owners of PS5 and Xbox Series X / S received a much nicer title.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. The biggest difference between the eighth and ninth generation consoles can be seen in the character models - especially when it comes to their skin and hair;
  2. All tested releases run in 4K and 60 fps (the video omits the basic PS4 and Xbox One versions);
  3. Editions on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S use anti-aliasing;
  4. The game also supports improved vibration and adaptive triggers for PS5.

A video about FIFA 21 appeared on the Digital Foundry channel, comparing last- and current-gen console versions. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S users can expect slightly better image quality as well as significantly improved character models. You'll find the video below.

The difference in the appearance of players is huge. The skin has been greatly improved, but by far the most impressive is the credibly reproduced and animated hair of the players. The editors at Digital Foundry believe that in this respect EA Sports' work goes beyond everything they have seen so far.

The video also contains a short visual comparison of versions for individual consoles, but it looks extremely uninteresting. In all tested releases (PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S) the resolution and gameplay performance are the same - 4K and 60 fps (excluding cut-scenes, replays and Be a Pro mode, which unfortunately run in only 30 fps).

In the case of 9th-gen consoles, we can expect faster loading of matches and edge smoothing oprion unavailable on older hardware. Additionally, the PlayStation 5 release supports the unique features of the DualSense controller- improved vibration and adaptive triggers. For triggers, the developers have come up with a rather interesting idea - the difficulty of pressing R2 increases gradually in one-on-one situations with the goalkeeper, to reflect increasing tension.
