FIFA 23 Prophecy Comes True; EA Guessed Winner of 2022 World Cup

EA Sports has „done it again” - it accurately predicted the winner of the World Cup in Qatar. This is the fourth such situation in a row. FIFA 23 was used for the simulation.

More than a month ago, a few days before the start of this year's football World Cup in Qatar, we informed that, according to EA Sports' analysis, Argentina would win the cup. Now that the Albiceleste national team has indeed won, we can only congratulate the developer. Again.

After all, a similar situation also occurred at the three previous World Cups. EA Sports correctly predicted that the win would come to:

  • Spain in 2010;
  • Germany in 2014;
  • France in 2018.

Typing Argentina for 2022 is thus the fourth such situation in a row. The chance to increase this record will be possible in four years, when the world's best teams will face each other on the fields of Canada, the United States and Mexico.

EA Sports used FIFA 23 for the analysis. Interestingly, the resulting layout of the knockout stage ladder turned out to be slightly different from the actual one. This is because it assumed that Argentina and Brazil - advancing from the first places in their groups - could only meet each other in the grand finals. Meanwhile, in reality, such a situation could have already occurred in the semifinals, but the Canarinhos lost in the quarterfinals to Croatia.

EA Sports.

Nevertheless, it can be said that FIFA 23 did a good job of simulating the results of the World Cup in Qatar.
