Final Fantasy XIV Sets New Record on Steam Thanks to Endwalker

With the early access to the Endwalker DLC, Final Fantasy XIV Online has set a new activity record on Steam. In six months, the MMORPG has doubled its player base on Valve's service.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Final Fantasy XIV has set a new activity record on Steam;
  2. This is thanks to the Early Access launch of the Endwalker DLC;
  3. FFXIV has doubled its player base on Steam since June, this year.

The MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV Online never ceases to amaze. The game has just set a new activity record on Steam. Yesterday, at the hottest moment of the day, the title was played by 94,540 people at the same time. That's almost 50% more than the previous record of 67,000, set this July.

The reason for this success is a new expansion, titled Endwalker. Its release will take place only next week, but a few days ago the early access was launched. All you need to do to participate, is to place a pre-order. Not surprisingly, fans were eager to start the game this weekend.

Before you play Endwalker you might want to check out the official benchmark, which will enable you to see if your PC can run the expansion.

2021 is a golden period for Final Fantasy XIV. Since July, the game has doubled its user base on Steam. It is currently one of the biggest MMORPGs on the market. The title strongly benefited from the weakness of World of Warcraft - many streamers and players have moved from WoW to FFXIV.

Setting a new activity record shows that the growth of Final Fantasy XIV was not stopped even by the release of New World, although it should be added that Amazon Games' title still has a larger base of players on Steam. It shows, that the renaissance of FFXIV has solid foundations and was not only caused by the desire of WoW fans to play any other MMORPG.

Square Enix recently announced that Final Fantasy XIV became the biggest commercial hit in the history of the series. The publisher assured then that the game has a long future ahead of it and will spare no resources for its development.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker will be released on December 7, this year. The game will be released simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Early access also applies to the console version.
