This Iconic Horror Game Will Give All It has For Free Before it Disappears

A very pleasant surprise for their fans has been prepared by the developers of a highly praised horror game. In connection with the upcoming withdrawal of the game from official distribution, the developers have decided to offer its basic content completely free of charge.

Whether you are a fan of cinema or not, you are certainly familiar with Friday the 13th. Debuting in 1980, the picture by Sean S. Cunningham became one of the most famous slashers and gave birth to a whole series of horror films that continue to scare us today. The huge impact that the brand had on global pop culture resulted in the gaming industry also reaching for the iconic series.

As a result, 2017 saw the debut of Friday the 13th: The Game from Gun Media. Despite the passing years, the game focused on asynchronous multiplayer continues to enjoy the favor of gamers. At the time of writing this news, the title has 73,783 reviews on Steam, of which as much as 79% are positive.

Unfortunately, as already mentioned in one of our previous news items, due to Gun Media's expiring license for the Friday the 13th brand, the game will be withdrawn from sale at the end of 2023.

As it turns out, however, every cloud has a silver lining. The developers have prepared quite a pleasant surprise for their fans. Beginning with July 6, everyone can enjoy all the basic content of the game, requiring the sacrifice of precious time, completely free.

Thus, all players who own the title will receive the maximum level 150 in the game, and will have access to 30 legendary bonuses. In addition, all kills (except those from the DLC) and challenges will be unlocked.

In addition to all these perks, Gun Media has decided to lower the price of the game (and its DLCs) on both PCs and consoles.

It is worth noting that, although as of January 1, 2024 Friday the 13th: The Game will no longer be available for purchase in stores, the developers reassure that the game's servers will be active until at least the end of next year.

Friday the 13th: The Game was released on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2017, and two years later on Nintendo Switch. Since then, the game has been heavily supported with additional content and updates. You can watch the horror game's gameplay trailer below.

While we're indulging in Friday the 13th: The Game, another production from Gun Media will be released - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The game based on the eponymous series will debut on August 18 on PC, PS4, PS5, XOne and XSX/S.
