The information about the delay of Cyberpunk 2077's expansion definitely did not put gamers in a good mood. They compare CD Projekt RED's fiasco to the success that was The Witcher 3, pointing out what went wrong with the game's development.
Cyberpunk 2077 is, was, and will be controversial, and yesterday's announcement only added fuel to the fire. As CD Projekt RED announced during its latest financial summary, Cyberpunk's expansion will launch in 2023 at the earliest. Players are - to put it mildly - annoyed.
What almost immediately struck the players is only a little more involvement in the work on Cyberpunk 2077 than on Gwent, about which we hear as little as nothing on a daily basis. Not without influence on the development of the game is also a very large human resource focused around The Witcher and "other projects".

Of course, as CD Projekt RED scored a bullseye with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt there was no lack of comparisons to this game. Players more than once pointed out that the last part of the trilogy received Blood and Wine - the second large, elaborate story addition a year after the release of the game. Meanwhile, the first DLC for Cyberpunk is still far away, looming on the horizon.
"There's still a part of me that hopes CDPR does it the way they did with Blood and Wine (seriously, the number of features they added, and even the appearance of more dynamic camera angles and other things in cutscenes, it really was almost sequel-level!), but with the ever-decreasing size of the team involved... a very small part of me retains that hope."
At this point it is worth reminding that in March this year we made an effort to compare the development of CP2077 with The Witcher. The conclusions were not optimistic.
Others point out that Cyberpunk came out as a finished product only this year. Of course, this was thanks to the introduction of patch 1.5 to the game, which fixed a lot of bugs. Still, there are voices among the community reporting that the game is far from perfect.
"Patch 1.5 added a lot of content and did a lot to rebuild CDPR's reputation, so we should be positive about it. But you're right, for me the game still lacks too many RPG elements to feel that they [CDPR - ed. note] deserve forgiveness. The transmog system is still an absolute must."
I've already mentioned that the stigma of Cyberpunk's failure is dragging on behind CDPR? No wonder. The players don't even believe that we'll get the DLC in time - they're worried that it will be as unpolished as Cyberpunk itself at launch.
"I don't know, will the expansion be as bugged as the original release? Will we be able to play it right away, or will we have to wait to play it after downloading the DLC? Lol"
"December 2023, and November 2023. DLC will be delayed until April 2024, who wants to bet?"
In the end, players are closer to skepticism than optimism about CDPR's handling of Cyberpunk. Although there are some who will wait for the DLC until it is properly polished and fully playable (if it's not like that for the 2023 release).
