Genshin Impact Wins GOTY on Google Play

Google Play informed that the prize for the game of the year was awarded to Genshin Impact, a game by the Chinese studio miHoYo.

Genshin Impact was chosen as game of the year on Google Play. When explaining the reasons for selecting this title, the game was praised for its excellent execution, rich content, developer's ambitions and a sophisticated combat system. According to the members of the jury, it was simply the best Android game they have played this year.

Let's remind, that the project debuted on September 28, this year. Apart from Android, the game is also available on PC, PlayStation 4 and iOS devices. The title uses F2P model.

The game proved to be a great success. The interest in the game was so great that it has bested Fortnite on Twitch for a while. A few hours after the launch, streams with Genshin Impact were watched by over 110 thousand people. In the first four days after the debut, the project was downloaded 17 million times. The title did so well that it became the best digitally earning game of October. In the first month, on mobile devices alone, microtransaction revenues amounted to 250 million dollars.

In early November, the game received major update 1.1. It introduced new playable characters, a season event, a city reputation system and an additional act with tasks in the main story line.

PlayStation 5 owners have been able to play Genshin Impact since the launch of the console and this version offers numerous graphical improvements over the PS4. There are also plans to release it on Nintendo Switch, but we will wait for it until next year.
