Ascendency allows you to get and develop your subclass in PoE 2. However, there is a lot of confusion regarding how to get the points. Let’s look at it and explain the situation.

Many things in Path of Exile 2 is not completely clear. Players have problems with quests like Undamaged Core or Ancient Vows or bosses for example Mektul or Balbala. Ascendancy mechanics are also among the most confusing. The problem is strengthened by the fact that the game is in early access, and we can’t be sure what is a bug or a feature in this case. There is contradictory information regarding Ascendency points in PoE 2. It is one of the most poorly explained elements of the game. In this guide we will try to make it clearer. At least a little bit.
Well… It is bugged but not in the way people think. It seems that going back in time to Cruel version of the world resets the quest visually. It shows players the objectives from the regular run. However, getting new Ascendency points does not work that way. So, the prompt is wrong, you can ignore it, but the mechanic itself is not broken (at least not for as many people as you might think). So, how to get the new Ascendency?
The easiest way to get two sets of Ascendancy points is to complete both challenges from Act 2 and Act 3 (Trial of the Sekhemas for first and Trial of Chaos for second Ascendency points) for the first time.
OR
If you don’t like one of them, you will have to try harder in the other one.
In the case of Third Ascendency, you don’t have choice, you have to farm one of the trials:
There is one more set of Ascendency points available in early access.
