Ghost in the Shell Finally in 4K Ultra HD

To celebrate the 25th anniversary, the iconic anime Ghost in the Shell will receive a special edition on Blu-ray. In addition to the movie in 4K Ultra HD, it will include numerous additional materials.

On November 18th this year it will be exactly 25 years since the Japanese premiere of Ghost in the Shell, an animated adaptation of a popular cyberpunk manga, directed by Mamoru Oshii. On the occasion of such an important anniversary Lionsgate prepared a real treat for the lovers of this title - a special edition on Blu-ray. The main attraction of this edition will, of course, be the movie itself in a re-mastered version. Its resolution has been upscaled to 4K Ultra HD and support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos standards has been added. This is to ensure the highest possible sound and image quality (via IGN).

Ghost in the Shell is 25 years old.

In addition, the anniversary edition of Ghost in the Shell will include some interesting additions. Those who want to learn more about behind-the-scenes will be able to include a commentary by the creators - Mary Claypool (translator of the script into English), Eric Calderon (producer and screenwriter), Richard Epcar (Batou's voice actor). Their information will be supplemented by additional observations by Charles Solomon, animation historian. In addition, the set will include two documents - Accessing Section 9: 25 Years into the Future and Landscapes & Dreamscapes: The Art and Architecture of Ghost in the Shell.

The special 25th anniversary edition of Ghost in the Shell will debut overseas on September 8. It will be available in two versions - regular one, costing $17.99 and with a steelbook, on which we have to spend $19.99.
